- has a true-crime podcast called "locus in quopod"
- did a double major in criminology and psychology, then a masters in journalism.
- has gotten in trouble with the law multiple times because of her investigations. she has been arrested a few times but is normally let off with a "final warning."
- focuses on unsolved crimes, usually, those that involve children. one of her first investigations helped lead to an arrest and later conviction in a 10-year-old cold case in the murder of a teenage girl.
- gets nose bleeds when she's super stressed.
- has a rescue mutt named nellie after nellie bly.
- her younger brother went missing when they were children. her father was initially suspected of murdering him but there was never enough evidence and the case went cold. it did destroy her family - her father became an alcoholic and later died after drunk driving into a tree. her mother became very ill and is currently in an assisted living home. karlie is one of the few people who believes in her father's innocence.
- believes that her brother may have been taken by a serial killer but hasn't been able to prove it - yet.
- often gets very single-minded when doing an investigation which often leads to issues with her friends, romantic relationships, etc;
